Super! - It's the new McLaren (new images)

- Published on Jan 29th, 2010 by Adam Milleneuve

Oooh, isn't it shiny!  This is the car that most British F1 fans will be keeping an eagle eye on throughout 2010 with both the 2008 and the 2009 British F1 champions piloting them around the circuits of the world.  It's going to get a hell of a lot of coverage here in the UK, so what do you make of the new look for 2010 - something that you like?  Comments at the end of the article please!

I think this looks great. The shark's fin engine cover which divides towards the rear and the flow of the livery over the side pods makes it look very slick. The driver's suits do look a bit Simon Cowell though... http://af.reuters.com/news/pictures/articleslideshow?articleId=AFJOE60S0CI20100129&channelName=#a=1

Nice to see some design ideas that the casual eye can pick up easily - hope they work!

I'm really disappointed that the livery is so similar to Mercedes this year, I'll get so frustrated trying to make out the differences on TV. Remember a couple of years ago where every car on the track seemed to be red and/or black?

Another Red Bull-alike, Newey must be giggling like a girl as he sees everyone copying his designs.
Having the engine cover fixed to the rear wing does actually help immensely with the aesthetics of the car.
Interesting to see bargeboards coming back in, i'm guessing the rule regarding them doesn't allow them to extend past the line of the front of the cockpit, and with the sidepod position on the old cars, there wasn't any room. But since the sidepods' position has been moved back over the past couple of years, there is now space.

Anyway, beside the point. The new cars this year look more visually appealling than this time last year. And the McLaren doesn't have that ridiculous-looking Pinnochio nose.
As with the Ferrari and probably the Mercedes too, i doubt the cars will look this way come Bahrain.

That's easy! The silver ones at the front will be the McLarens ;)

As you say there, another Red Bull alike. I'd totally agree. I think Newey could go one better this year. Remember he had to redesign the RB5 to fit a double deck diffuser.

This time he will have been able to full integrate the DDD into the design.

I'm going to stick my neck out there and say that I think Red Bull can and will win the title this year with Vettel, even though I havent seen the car...........

Any one else have any tips.

Wow, i've just noticed the new pics. Great top-down shot! I haven't seen that anywhere else before.
I'm not really a fan of the new shape cars over the old ones but we're stuck with them, so i must attune! Although we've only seen 3 so far, i'd stick my neck out and say that we're unlikely to see another with lines as good as this.

Though i suspect i may be slightly biased since it's a McLaren....
