Rain in Spain Proves to be a Right Pain

This may make for a great photo of the new Williams F1 car speeding at Jerez, but the current test session has proven to be a waste of time for the teams that have ventured over there to test their new motors.

It's been a disappointing time for the Lotus team - on the first day they had a supplier issue, which left them with no power steering and today Heikki managed to crash the car, damaging the front wing the in the process.  Despite the setbacks, team principal Tony Fernandes remains upbeat and declared the new Lotus to be a beauty on the track.

Good day despite heikki going off. Using time to fix hydraulics. Morale great. Such a can do attitude. Got good 30 laps in. - Tony Fernandes

Heikki is testing for Lotus again on Friday before Jarno Trulli takes over duties for Saturday.  Glock has been enjoying himself today in the Virgin car which is now showing some promise after their early set backs.  The next Scottish F1 hopeful, Mr Paul Di Resta got his hands on the Force India today too and lapped faster than race driver Liuzzi.  As with all times coming in from Jerez, take them with a pince of salt because there's no way of knowing who's doing what in terms of setup and fuel loads.

Ferrari have been complaining more than others at the conditions in Jerez, saying that such sessions should be in Bahrain - it's a fair point, with most of the teams now doing pit stop practice to make some use of the wet conditions.

We expect some proper testing tomorrow afternoon and Saturday with the forecast promising sunshine over Jerez.  In the meantime here are some more shots to pass the time...
