The (new) Silverstone Track Guide
- Published on Jul 5th, 2010 by Adam MilleneuveThis time a year ago everyone was talking about it being the last British Grand Prix at the legendary Silverstone circuit, possibly the last British GP at all with Donington's preparation receiving much skepticism - but here we are, July 2010 and the British GP is fast approaching at the modified Silverstone Circuit, now the fastest track on the F1 calendar (an accolade previously held by Monza, Italy).
As you will have come to expect, Badger's here with our circuit guide with a rather fitting, very English voiceover to talk you through the new layout, enjoy:
Silverstone marks the beginning of the second half of F1 2010 so all of the championship contenders - that's six (yes 6!) drivers fighting it out to make some sort of lead in the tables. According to the Fantasy GP stats, the majority of you are backing Vettel or Hamilton for the win, and then there's Jenson Button who would love to finally win on home soil and take the fight to his ever racey team mate. Webber will be looking to keep all four wheels on the track for the whole race and Alonso will be looking to settle some unfinished business and rectify Ferrari's championship chances.
The track's fast which will favour McLaren's super-duper F-duct thingy, the Red Bull is still the class of the field (they dominated Silverstone last year too) - Hamilton has an excellent record here and Robert Kubica is destined for a surprise victory - it really is a hotly anticipated grand prix this weekend.
Let us know if you're going and keep an eye on our Facebook page for details of a meet-up over the weekend.
As ever, we love feedback, so if you have any comments on our Track Guides - do let us know in the comments below - ta very much!

Looks good you guys!
Cannot wait until this GP, been a Mclaren fan since I was 12! Managed to pick up some last minute General Admission tickets! Any suggestions as to where to stand?!!
Thanks for the help!
The best place in my opinion is at the end of Hangar straight after the right hander just to the right of the posh hospitality grandstands. I was there for the last couple of years and it's a great view.
Other than that I suggest walking around on Saturday after qualy to suss out alternatives. Not sure where the general admission places are around the new arena section...
Thanks Adam, I shall have a good look around, planning on getting there on Sunday super early!!
When you say super early, bear in mind that the circuit opens at 5am on Sunday and there's usually people going in at 5.01am!!
