The Japanese GP TV Times - Sushi for breakfast?

- Published on Oct 5th, 2010 by Adam Milleneuve

For all of the F1 fans based here in the UK, the Japanese Grand Prix is one of the few remaining 'special' races where you get to feel like a proper fan, getting up horrendously early (or not going to bed) just to watch the big race live.  This weekend's race isn't quite so bonkers as the original Aussie races at 4am, with the action kicking off in Suzuka at around 7am GMT.

The only other main difference this weekend, compared to the rest of the season is that Lee McKenzie will be hosting the main show instead of Jake Humphrey.

She's a great lass and will easily keep control of Eddie Jordan and David Coulthard.  You can read about when Badger met Lee at Monza is 2009 and see her website for more info about her career - she's not just a pretty face!

So with out further ado, here's Badger's quick guide to the TV times for what will most likely be one of the races of this quite extraordinary season:

Main Attractions

(on BBC1, 5Live, web and red button)

  • Saturday : Qualifying - 6am - 7am (coverage on telly to begin around 5am)
  • Sunday : Grand Prix - 7am - 9am (coverage on telly to begin around 6am)

For the fanatics

(on 5Live, web and red button)

  • Friday Practice One: 2am - 3.30am
  • Friday Practice Two: 6am - 7.30am
  • Saturday Practice Three: 3am - 4am

Oh and it's worth mentioning that if you're a as big a fan of Martin Brundle as Badger is, you should become a fan on his (unofficial) Facebook fan page, some excellent comment and banter on there - and while you're at, become a fan of Badger on Facebook too

I miss getting up at 4am for the Aussie GP - seriously! I agree with you Badger - it was fun getting up or staying up to watch a silly-o'clock race!

As an Aussie fan pretty much every race is a stay up late affair. It most certainly does make you feel like a fanatic.

I still remember 1986 smuggling a portable tv into my bedroom so I could watch the race in Adelaide. And what a race it was!
