Young driver test - day one quotes

- Published on Nov 16th, 2010 by Jack Lamure

Following the first day of F1's young driver test - which saw a number of racers get their first taste of Grand Prix machinery - several of the drivers have given their thoughts on how their time in the car went. Badger has rounded up a few quotes from these F1 hopefuls...

Daniel Ricciardo - Red Bull (1st)

"I think it's hard to know when you're exactly ready but I think I've done quite a bit now in the junior categories and now this is my fourth proper day in an F1 car.

"So I think I'm ready. I'm probably as ready as I can be."

Antonio Felix da Costa (above) - Force India (3rd)

"It was just such an amazing experience today and I wish everyone could try it as it's so impressive, such fun. I have to thank the whole crew at Force India who worked so hard today, to my management and sponsors and I hope to have some more F1 experience again quite soon."

Mikhail Aleshin (below) - Renault (4th)

"We are aiming for a race seat next year. I'm quite confident on this. We're working on it for next year because it is very important for me. I had a good year in World Series, which is a very competitive series this year especially. Most people see it and understand how difficult it was to win this championship."

Dean Stoneman - Williams (5th)

"It's knowing how much that will let you push and when it will bite. That was what I was doing throughout the day, pushing harder and seeing where the car was good and where it was bad. Towards the end of the day I was pushing more and more and seeing where I could make time up."

Jean-Eric Vergne - Toro Rosso (7th)

"I did quite well today, so I'm happy, but sure everyone is quite nervous before their first day in Formula 1, I guess."

Paul di Resta - Force India (8th)

"It was good to be back in the car this morning for the first time since the Italian Grand Prix, even though it was a very short session - just over an hour and a half."

Rodolfo Gonzalez - Lotus (13th)

"Mike Gascoyne said to me this morning 'today you won't show me that you're ready for Formula 1, but you can show me that you're not ready for Formula 1... So try to do an intelligent job - you don't have to impress anybody, you've already impressed us and that's why you're here."

Mike Gascoyne must be easily impressed if 21st in GP2 is what he bases his assessment on.

I think Rodolfo's financial input may have impressed him a little more...
