Initially garnted entry to the 2010 F1 season as Campos Meta 1 - under the ownership of former Minardi pilot and Fernando Alonso discoverer Adrian Campos - financial meltdown led to investor Jose Ramon Carabante purchasing the team ahead of the season, renaming them Hispania and putting Colin Kolles in charge.
Uncertainty over the team's very existence meant zero car development and zero testing, leaving Hispania totally unprepared when they arrived at their maiden Grand Prix in Bahrain. Nevertheless Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok did a valiant job behind the wheel, and despite the car undergoing little development continued to plug away at the back. Sakon Yamamoto replaced Chandhok following the British Grand Prix, the Japanese eventually making way for Austrian Christan Klien - who would prove their most useful driver - late in the season. 2010 was an utterly chaotic start to life in F1 for the team, and drew plenty of criticism, but if the ship can be steadied and the experienced Tonio Liuzzi can eke a little development from the car Hispania could at least earn a bit of dignity in 2011.
