- Published on Dec 4th, 2010 by The BadgerRed Bull owner Dietrich Mateschitz purchased much-loved Italian backmarkers Minardi in 2006 to provide members of his young driver programme with a platform to enter F1. Initially running Scott Speed and Tonio Liuzzi the team struck gold when they hired Sebastian Vettel in mid 2007. He took a stunning pole and win at the 2008 Italian Grand Prix and was promptly promoted to the main Red Bull squad. Now building their own cars and with a very inexperienced driver line-up they've struggled to live up to Vettel's 2008 heroics, though they do continue to provide potential Red Bull drivers with F1 experience.
