Life Before F1
British F3 National Class champion in 2007, aged just 17, he then had a run at the main series title in ‘08. He was one of four men still in the hunt for the championship at the last round, but ultimately finished bottom of that pile, with Jaime Alguersuari taking the honours. In 2009 he stepped up to GP2, and in 2010 showed himself to have bags of potential. His win at Monaco was a joy to behold and further victories in Britain, Germany, Belgium and Abu Dhabi left him runner-up to champion Pastor Maldonado. He'd signed a deal to race for Sauber before the season was out.

F1 Career
Sergio Perez joins the F1 grid with Sauber for 2011 following an impressive sophomore season in GP2. Alongside 24-year-old Kamui Kobayashi he will be part of one of the youngest and most inexperienced line-ups on the grid and it will be interesting to see how the Mexican adapts to life in the Formula One shark tank.

And another thing...
- Perez's is nicknamed 'Checo'.
- His brother, Antonio, is also a racing driver, most recently competing in NASCAR's Mexican championship.
- Sergio will become the first Mexican to start a Formula One race since Hector Rebaque at the Cesar's Palace Grand Prix of 1981 when he takes to the grid in Australia.
