Grosjean takes GP2 Asia title number two at Imola

Romain Grosjean has sealed his second GP2 Asia title - on Italian soil, oddly enough - with a fourth place finish at Imola.

The one-time Renault F1 racer took a five-point lead over Jules Bianchi in to today's sprint race having sealed a commanding victory in yesterday's feature event. The title was decided on the opening lap, with sixth place starter Bianchi eliminated from proceedings by a punt from behind that sent him in to a rival car

Meanwhile Grosjean moved up to fourth place, already assured of the championship, and stayed there to the flag. Out front Dani Clos took the lead with a good getaway and resisted the challenges of Fabio Leimer to take victory. Giedo van der Garde completed the podium, his second top-three finish of the weekend, and also takes third in the championship behind Grosjean and Bianchi.

The GP2 Series proper kicks off in May, supporting the Turkish Grand Prix, and runs at every European Formula One race. Grosjean will enter that as title favourite, with Bianchi likely to be considered his main rival. France may not have a driver on this year's F1 grid but there seems a good chance one of these two will change that come 2012.
