Ice Man Alain dominates Andros Trophy spectacular

Four-time Formula One world champion Alain Prost showed that time his done nothing to dull his skills behind the wheel this weekend by claiming victory in the Andros Trophy end-of-season spectacular at the Stade de France.

The Frenchman has been a regular in the ice racing championship in recent years, claiming the title in 2007 and 2008. This year he was pipped to a third crown by countryman Jean-Phillipe Dayraut, but made up for that disappointment by beating his rival in yesterday's season-closing non-championship event.

Driving a Dacia Duster, Prost defeated former employee Olivier Panis in the semi-final before overcoming Dayraut in the deciding head-to-head. The former McLaren, Ferrari and Williams racer also scored victory in the grand finale alongside one-off team-mate Evens Stievenart.

"We really wanted to perform well today, and we did," said Prost after his double triumph. "It wasn't easy, because I picked up a rear-right puncture, but the finale was pretty chaotic for everyone.

"It was important for Dacia to win in front of the packed grandstands here. We were the fastest, and also the most robust on the day, and our success at the Stade de France was the perfect way to wrap up the campaign. I was touched by the crowd's warm welcome and the best way to thank them for that was to win the pursuit race and the finale.

"We will now start working to prepare for next season. I hope our triumph here at the Stade de France will lead to more success in the future," he concluded.

It would seem that four F1 titles just isn't enough for some people.

Amazing to see he's still winning trophies after so long. He turned 56 just a couple of weeks ago!
