Onboard with Mika Hakkinen...

Jimmy Von Weeks, Badger's deputy Editor had the ride of life when stepped inside the Johnnie Walker Caparo, being driven by none other than Mr Mika Hakkinen, the double F1 World Champion.

Badger Craig, Ben, Adam and Jimmy with Mika and the Caparo

The car itself is essentially a road-going F1 car and looks quick when parked up, but Jimmy got to go flat out on the track at Goodwood with the Finnish legend (aka the man that took on Schumacher and won) for a thrilling experience.  The best bit, those clever folk at Johnnie Walker had a camera onboard, so here's video footage for you all to enjoy!

Mika is a thoroughly nice chap and he is the ambassador for the "Never drink and drive" campaign that's been run by Johnnie Walker for several years now and seems to be really enjoying his post-F1 lifestyle.  Jimmy also interviewed Mika to find out more about his time in F1 and how he fills his days (when he's not driving folk around in bonkers cars) of 'retirement' from one of the world's greatest sports.

Look out for the full interview with Mika, here on Badger over the next couple of days - follow us on Twitter or Facebook to keep up to date with other articles on the site too.

Johnnie Walker also run a campaign called "Step Inside the Circuit" where fans get the chance to see some quite brilliant footage of Jenson and Lewis at McLaren, behind the scenes and experience the glamourous world of F1 in a way never done before - see more here: Step Inside the Circuit

I was pretty happy with his pace. When he said afterward that he was driving at 50% it was a bit of an eye-opener.

was interesting to see the difference in the strength of jimmy's vs mikas' necks. Solid from Mika, proper floppy from Jimmy! lol. Cool experience. i think he was running less than 50% personally, that thing was probably only at 25% throttle a lot of the time. It sounded like it was gagging to be let loose, excellent restraint from Mika really! I love the way he finished the run off, looked really cool on camera.

I agree Jimmy was doing some serious 'head banging' to an almost imaginary Iron Maiden - "You shook me all night long" soundtrack!!

It was very cool. And hey, I'm every bit as strong as him - he was just given stability by the steering wheel. Nuff said.

Isn't "You shook me all night long" an AC/DC tune?
