Saubers Disqualified From Australian GP
by Jack Lamure on Mar 27th, 2011
Sauber drivers Sergio Perez and Kamui Kobayashi have been excluded from today's Australian Grand Prix. The pair finished seventh and eighth respectively, with debutant Perez in particular impressing with his performance, but now leave Albert Park empty handed after failing scrutineering.
The Swiss team's cars were deemed to have broken technical rules 3.10.1 and 3.10.2, which refer to the upper rear wing element. Theirs is believed to have breached the minimum radius size of 100mm.
Sauber's exclusion promotes Felipe Massa to seventh with Sebastien Buemi eighth. Both Force Indias have now been promoted to points-paying positions, with Adrian Sutil ninth and Paul di Resta taking points in his maiden grand prix for tenth.

Surely this should have been spotted a long time before the race?!?!? Shame, Perez had a stormer and the Sauber seems to have genuine pace... Good for di Resta though
Oh and it screws up my Fantasy GP team as I have Kobayashi!!!
Shame that di Resta had to score his maiden points this way though.
And that's me even further down the field in FantasyGP...
I agree, why wasn't this picked up in the scrutineering on Thursday?
amazed that 54 people 'like' this on Facebook?! Must be a lot of facebook-liking di Resta fans on here??
Hope that whoever made the mistake doesn't end up losing their job. Sounds to me like a systemic failure.
that's 54 people off my x-mas card list! lol

hmm, no more images in comments?
afraid not - too problematic, will bring the feature back if we can find a better way - for now though, links to images are fine
