The Rain in Spain Falls Mainly...
by Adam Milleneuve on Mar 12th, 2011...on the last day of the final pre-season test. Or so it seems.
After four days of dry, varied temperature, the teams got to experience Circuit de Catalunya in what you would call a torrential downpour. Once again, the talk of the paddock is the tyres and the general thinking is that the Pirelli tyres are somewhat of a nightmare - they wear as quickly as the dry weather tyres (aka 'slicks') - any driver that has a Monza 2008 drive like Vettel will be highly commended this year.
Thanks to our buddies at Octane Photos here we have a photo gallery of the 2011 cars attempting to drive in the tricky conditions. This is the last we'll see of these cars before Australia in just two weeks time, yep that's right folks, the 2011 season is very nearly upon us - whoop whoop!

Comments and Discussion
Oh look, they're all driving round at high speed in conditions that are worse than Korea was at the start last year.
Still annoyed about how long they left that, especially after watching the 08 and 09 reviews and noting other races that got under way without incident in worse conditions.
The conditions weren't quite tropical monsoon here today (close though at sometimes - but definitely LOADS colder). The teams did declare track "too treacherous" at one point.
The GPDA complained that the Pirelli full wet didn't provide enough grip only yesterday.....
But surely poor tyres is actually good for the sport though not maybe for the manufacturer, it is one of the obvious ways of increasing brake distances, if you are going to do nothing about controlling brakes themselves and little about down force.
indeed David - couldn't agree more!
