Daniel Ricciardo & the rubber duck Sebastain Vettel

by Jack Lamure on Apr 7th, 2011

Toro Rosso have long been a bit off the wall with their press releases. Whilst most teams stick to the tried and tested formula of a few quotes from the drivers and management the Italian outfit take the novel approach of running a strange cartoon strip. Starring giant-headedĀ caricaturesĀ of Sebastien Buemi and Jamie Alguersuari, the series charts the boys adventures through the world of Formula One (and sometimes beyond). The recent addition to the team of third driver Daniel Ricciardo has seen a new addition to the series, prompting perhaps their most bizarre effort yet.

Because in their pre-Malaysia/China release STR have managed to dream up the image of Ricciardo taking a bath, whilst Seb and Jaime look on, complete with a rubber duck Sebastian Vettel, before the Aussie subsequently makes skateboards from the STR6's sidepods. But don't take our word for it - see the cartoon below for proof proper of the unique approach the team take to media releases. It certainly makes a change from the usual corporate speak and stock photos.

They've been doing them for ages! The effect had worn off until I saw the little Vettel duck.
