Kobayashi leads Japanese fundraising project

The Formula One community has united this week in an effort to aid the reconstruction efforts in Japan following the earthquake that struck the country in March.

The disaster has already claimed close to 15,000 lives in the Asian nation, with thousands more left injured or forced from their homes by the quake and subsequent tsunami. There has also been grave concern over the stability of the Fukushima nuclear plant.

Led by Japanese racer Kamui Kobayashi, the entire paddock has now united to create a dedicated digital book for iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch to raise money for the relief effort. Titled “You Are Connected”, the book contains messages of support from all 24 racers and team principals and pictures from the world of Formula One. Some of the images will be downloadable as wallpapers for your device.

All the proceeds will be donated to the Japanese Red Cross Society and go towards the reconstruction and aid efforts in the earthquake-affected areas of Japan. The app costs 0.59GBP/0.79EUR and can be downloaded via this link. You can also visit the project's website here.
