Turkish Delights: Unstoppable Seb

by Jack Lamure on May 8th, 2011

Another faultless drive from Sebastian Vettel this afternoon - and what else can you say? After the blip that was second place in China Seb returned to the top step of the podium today with a lights-to-flag win, never looking even remotely troubled by the pursuing pack. He was even able to switch his tyre strategy late in the race, just to be safe.

Whilst the race behind him was by no means boring the fight for the lead was non-existant. Seb simply scampered off. Too easy? Perhaps. And all this despite Seb shunting it in FP1.

It's easy to feel he's not having to work for it, but he is: it's just all done on a Saturday afternoon. He is producing superb qualifying laps to guarantee himself P1 for the race, and from there he's in the box seat. He can manage things his way and, three times out of four this season, that's paid off.

Ultimately the problem lies with team-mate Mark Webber, who is failing to beat Seb on Saturday in the same car (conspiracy theorists may wish to disagree with this). He's not far off, but the gap is proving crucial as Vettel is starting on pole and doing his own thing.

Sorry to get off tangent, but you have to wonder whether a Hamilton or an Alonso might beat Seb in qualy more regularly. Not that this is the place to discuss that...

All that remains to say is well done to Seb - can he be beaten in Spain? You'd be brave to bet against it.
