Kolles sets target of 10th for Hispania

by Jack Lamure on Jun 17th, 2011

Hispania boss Colin Kolles is confident that his team can snatch tenth place in the constructors' standings from fellow 2010 newcomers Team Lotus, but says that the Spanish outfit will soon switch their focus to next year's car.

Tonio Liuzzi's 13th place finish at last weekends' Canadian Grand Prix was the team's best since their troubled entry to the sport last season, and promoted them ahead of Virgin in the championship. However whilst believing his team can better their 11th place finish from 2010 Kolles admitted that they soon be prioritising their 2012 effort.

"There are still a lot of races left this season," said the Romanian. "We want to improve our results and achieve our target of being 10th in the constructor’s championship.

"We will switch very soon to the 2012 car," he continued. "In July [we will be] in the Mercedes wind tunnel."

Kolles added that he was pleased to have proved those who doubted Hispania's ability to make the grid in 2011 wrong.

"Time will always show who is right and who is wrong," he said. "Of course there are always things to be improved and criticism is okay as long as people understand what they are talking about.

"The team in itself is a strong team with a lot of dedicated people who give their 100% and work very hard. We are a small team but very efficient. We will continue to work hard and hope to improve and achieve better results."
