Hill, who raced in F1 from 1992 to 1999 for Brabham, Williams, Arrows and Jordan, has been active in the sport since his retirement. He was BRDC chairmen from 2006 to 2011, and was instrumental in Silverstone re-acquiring the British Grand Prix from Donington Park, as well as the developments to the historic circuit.

Joining a team of pundits that already includes Martin Brundle and Anthony Davidson in addition to commentator David Croft and pit-lane reporters Ted Kravitz Natalie Pinkham, Hill will be on air for ten - Australia, Bahrain, Monaco, Britain, Germany, Hungary, Belgium, India, USA and Brazil - of the scheduled twenty grands prix.

"The plans Sky Sports have for Formula 1 are very impressive, particularly the dedicated Formula 1 channel and I couldn't resist becoming involved", said the 1996 World Champion, "There are so many reasons to be excited about the new season and I can't wait to get started."

Sky Sports F1 HD will launch in early March, ready for the first practice session of the Australian Grand Prix on March 16th.
