After a week of PR disasters Red Bull will reveal something a tad more positive in the coming days, with 18-year-old Dutch racer Beitske Visser set to become the first female member of their young driver programme. Beitske will hope to follow current grand prix stars Sebastian Vettel, Daniel Ricciardo and Jean-Eric Vergne into F1, while trying to avoid trailing the likes of Michael Ammermüller, Mika Mäki and Adrian Zaugg into relative obscurity.

Visser stepped up to single-seaters last season following a successful karting career, taking eighth spot in ADAC Formuel Masters. She scored a brace of wins along the way and could conceivably have finished higher had injury not caused her to miss two rounds.

Could she be F1’s first true female racing star? Red Bull will certainly give her everything she needs to excel on track – it’s now down to her.
