Formula One 2010 is officially GO GO GO!  This morning we saw the first of three practice sessions ahead of Saturday’s all important qualifying session.  Just as with the winter testing, it’s tricky to really see how quick everyone is because they’re all doing different setups and checks, but nonetheless, let’s checkout the running order after the Friday morning practice:

Force India sprung a surprise as did Renault.  Schumacher wasn’t happy with his car at all – but don’t worry, this is exactly what would happen back in the early noughties – Schumacher would be unhappy on Friday and then be jumping on the top step of the podium come Sunday…

Elsewhere, only one of the Hispania Racing cars went out, Mr Senna, who just did a couple of laps, his team mate Chandhok is yet to make an appearence.

Heikki Kovalainen’s run in the Lotus was cut short after he had a hot bum from a problem within the cockpit, that taken onboard though, Lotus look sure to be the best of the new teams so far, purely for completely loads more laps and are the most convincing as a team that’s ready to race.

So should we all be celebrating Force India’s performance with a bottle of Kingfisher and a lamb bhuna for lunch?  Maybe, but let’s just leave that in the oven for now and stay tuned for the times from Practice 2 and where we’ll summarise all the goings on from Bahrain on Friday.
