IMG_2593Valtteri Bottas topped the timesheets for Williams Martini Racing today, on this second day of the final Formula 1 test in Barcelona. He put in a 1:23:261 time on the 92nd lap of the total 108 he covered today. Badger ventured into the media scrum to hear his thoughts on his final day of testing ahead of Melbourne.

On his days running:

“It was a good day, a good amount of kilometres again. I’m feeling positive and feeling good with progress made during the testing. I’m sure there’s still plenty of areas we can work on.”

On reliability:

“For sure with the new car, we have had some small things there, but they’ve not been massive problems and always fixable, so I’m not worried really. It’s a reliable car, so it’s time to make sure its quick.”

On Melbourne:

“It’s so difficult to say (where the car will be), but I really hope we can be as close to the top as possible. You never know what kind of programme the others are doing, so it is difficult to speculate more than that.”

“I had a good four days, and a good amount of kilometres – long runs, short runs, I feel 100 percent ready for the season and I’m feeling good in the car”

“Last year was not an optimal start for the season. I really like the track, so it would be nice to finish high in the first race, and start the season well.”

On further developments prior to the first race:

“I would feel that’s there’s still quite a bit more to come, I think we have been learning a lot in the four days that I’ve been running and also two days with Felipe. There’s still two days left and there’s plenty more to come. I’m sure we are going to have some bits as well for Melbourne, and if they work, it should be a step up. I think this is a good starting point.”
