Day 1 in Jerez was a quiet one – not because of the new engines, but just due to there being barely any track action. Kimi Raikkonen topped the timesheet and completed the most laps, with 31 in total. It wasn’t trouble-free running for the Finn though – his first outing lasted a mere handful of corners. Not the best start.
Lewis Hamilton was the first car on the track and posted the second fastest time of the day, but with a front-wing failure he ended the day prematurely, in the barriers. Sebastian Vettel managed only 3 laps and McLaren spent the day in the garage.
This didn’t stop our up and coming professional photographer, Shivraj Gohil (@ShivyF1 on Twitter) capturing some stunning images from the day. Enjoy a sample below, there will be plenty more coming tomorrow.
