The final day of running in Barcelona for this test has seen wet, windy and even chillier conditions, similar to the weather you’d expect at Silverstone. The conditions were tricky with 4 red flags in the first few hours.
By midday a dry line was forming and the times came tumbling down, with Hamilton leading Button with a 1,23.3 on the medium tyres. Bianchi was running well, despite the conditions, briefly topping the timesheet and putting him in with a good chance in the battle with Sutil to be Paul Di Resta’s team mate at Force India.
With these conditions, the testing times are even more pointless, but that said, Van Der Garde wasn’t phased by the lack of grip and completed 20 laps in the morning, posting a time quicker than Massa and Webber. He did bin the Caterham on the last corner, but learned from his mistake to have a good run.
