Why did we even doubt him?
After Malaysia we thought that the magic had worn off for Fernando Alonso, that the heroics of last season had dried up. To be honest, any neutral spectator might have though the same, but the wily Spaniard proved them, us, and anyone else all wrong in China.
The thought process that goes on in his helmet during a race is phenomenal. We couldn’t keep up with who was where and on what tyre throughout the Grand Prix, and we had full TV and internet coverage open. Fernando did it through information fed to him through a crackly radio while driving at 180mph. Amazing.
At the end of the race, his engineer stated that his performance was “Phenomenale. Phe-no-me-na-le.”. We couldn’t agree more.
