The 2015 Fantasy Grand Prix Championship is now underway and following the bizarre first race, it’s time to review the game to see who the real winners and losers were.

It’s only the first race, in a long season – so plenty to play for and these tips and guides can get you off to a great start.

The highest score for Australia was a whopping 251 points, but the average was just 104 points with over 8000 teams taking part.

What did I do wrong?

If you’re new to the game or simply looking at your score and wondering what happened – have a look over the brief review below:

Drivers: Obviously Lewis Hamilton scored 25pts for his dominant victory, Rosberg scored 18 for his 2nd place and Vettel also scored 18points for his 3rd place (15pts + 3pts for moving up one place from his starting grid).

The points continue for the rest of the top 10 following the F1 points system with the additional 3 bonus points for any positions gained from the start to the finish.  The real winners for Australia were Marcus Ericsson and Felipe Nasr who both scored 25 points.

Ericsson may have only got 4 points for his 8th place, but scored a massive 21 bonus points for moving up 7 places from his starting grid slot – wow and for £3million that’s a bargain!  Jenson Button may have missed out on race points, but Fantasy GP rewards the fact he kept the Honda engine running and moved up 5 places and gained 15 points for it.

Teams: there aren’t any bonus points and clearly Mercedes scored massively with 43 points, but Sauber were by far the best value team – scoring 14 points and only costing £4million – bargain!

Qualifying: New 2015 is the qualifying bonus points where your drivers in your team score points for beating their team mates and a further bonus if you have the pole position holder  in your team too. For me, none of my 3 drivers beat their team mates and two of them didn’t even start the race – disaster.  Other players scored big on this though with some pocketing 35 further bonus points from qualifying.

Predictions: Some of you missed your predictions or simply didn’t get any right – others scored well and some got the whole podium correct!  Make sure you submit your predictions for each race and don’t forget you can always put the same driver for 1st, 2nd and 3rd to try and spread your bets!
