Do no adjust your set. Ferrari won the Malaysian Grand Prix with Sebastian Vettel taking victory and overtaking both Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg en route to the chequered flag. And it was a proper race to boot too.
After the disappointment of a lacklustre season opener, this is just what F1 needed – real racing, drivers pushing it, a different car winning and action up and down the grid through the 56 laps around Sepang.
The season is set for a proper fight now – both Ferrari cars were on it today. Kimi Raikkonen’s 4th is almost more impressive than Sebastian Vettel’s win with the Finn fighting back from last place after picking up a puncture and being forced to complete a lap with only three wheels. Great to see Kimi back being Kimi.
It must have been an emotional time for Sebastian, fulfilling a childhood dream, returning to the top step of the podium and we’re sure he has a wry smile when lapping his former Red Bull Racing team.
Even the sight of that prominent finger made me smile for a change, it’s good to see it in a different livery after a well-earned victory beating fierce competition. The Malaysian GP today was exactly what Formula 1 Grands Prix should be – proper racing.
Here’s the top 10 result and some photos from the Ferrari family album, we’ll have more reaction and comment on the Malaysian GP soon.
