Badger’s Sarah Merritt managed to grab a few words with DS Virgin driver Jean-Eric Vergne after he had finished spraying the podium champagne earned by a third place finish in London race 1.
Jean-Eric, can you share with us your thoughts after today’s great race result for you?
“I am really happy with today’s result, especially for the team. I didn’t think I was going to be able to race today because I didn’t think they would get the car fixed in time, but they did, so big thanks to them.” (JEV hit a wall during a qualifying session where, due to changing weather, his early lap banked him 5th on the starting grid)
And how do you think tomorrow will go for race 2?
“Hopefully better, without a crash in qualifying and an even better result!”
What are your thoughts on the Season 3 calendar destinations, anything on there that particularly stands out as an interesting circuit for you?
“I think Hong Kong will be cool. I don’t want to go to Marrakesh, I don’t think it is the standard of Formula E. We go to Paris, Hong Kong, New York, I don’t know what we have to do in Marrakech but I’m not the organiser, I just don’t think it will be as nice as the other tracks that we are going to. I’d rather have less races by more quality than quantity.”
Lastly, how important is it to see that you’ve got fans that travel to the races to support you, and does that give you a real boost to see them in the crowd?
“Yes, it’s really nice, I love my fans and they are a big part of me. I will always be thankful as they have always been here in very difficult moments and I know they are still going to be there.”
