It was yet another fantastically unpredictable session of Formula 1 2012 over in Monte Carlo that left us with none other than Michael Schumacher clocking the fastest time of all – just when the doubts over his future were beginning to snowball.

Sadly for him and Mercedes, he’ll start down in 6th following his penalty for causing a collision with Senna in Barcelona. Massive joy for Mark Webber who’s season continues to look good with him inheriting the actual pole position while his reigning champion team mate is unable to fight for pole at all.
During the first round of qualifying Perez collided with the barriers in a rather odd fashion, leaving him down in 24th (pending other driver penalties). Fortunately for the other drivers this was a gift to help them stay out of being eliminated early on.
McLaren may have made some changes to make sure their pit stop mistakes become a thing of the past, but now one of their champion drivers is in trouble – Jenson Button could only manage 13th (pre-penalties).
