Yes you read that correctly, as well as having plenty of banter and the inaugural Badger’s GP Pub Quiz as well as the race itself, our Brazilian Bash will also feature a very special guest star – Virgin Racing!  Obviously the drivers, mechanics, designers and co will be busy trying to beat Lotus to 10th in the championship over in Korea, but the team’s Technical Press and PR chap, Geoff Collins is coming over to join the fun here in Central London on November 7th.

Geoff’s the gent behind the team’s very popular presence on Twitter – @VirginRacing and before joining the VR grand prix team, he’s had a pretty impressive career in motorsport – back in ’94 when Schumacher was racing Hill for the F1 title, Geoff was getting his first taste of racing over in Magny Cours in a Formula Renault 1700 and from ’95 – ’98 he did Formula Ford 2000 Club Racing here in the UK.  The racing didn’t continue past another two years in BARC Formula Renault (he claims that’s where his talent ran out) and he switched focus to run Eiger Racing Formula Renault team with now-VR CEO Graeme Lowdon.  At the same time he was the F1 correspondant for Cityscreen on Reuters and also did some writing for Planet-F1 and PitPass – a pretty impressive CV by anyone’s standards I’m sure you’ll agree.

“So what’s Geoff up to on the day?” you may rightly ask – well of course he’ll be watching the race with us, but he’ll also be doing a Q&A with yours truly about life inside one of F1’s newest teams and answering your questions on CFD as opposed to wind-tunnel design design principles, about how F1 cars are setup, what the team do on Fridays and well… pretty much anything else you’d like to ask him.

Pretty exciting stuff eh?  We think so and we’re really pleased to see people signing up for the event via Facebook and can’t wait to see you all on the day.  No tickets are required, we’re keeping the event free to you all but we will have a voucher for you to download and print (look out for it after Korea) to exchange for a wristband which will give you bargain drinks and food as well as access to the Badger area at London’s Sports Cafe for the big event.

Make sure you’re at the venue for 2pm, 2.15pm at the latest because we’ll be getting started right away with the quiz and raffle where you’ll be able to win loads prizes courtesy of Virgin Racing and also Henri Lloyd / Mercedes Grand Prix – oh and some from us too!
